Global Experimentation for Future Internet (GEFI) 2019 Workshop

The participating research communities wish to perform collaborative research, on the basis of equality and reciprocity, in areas of mutual interest, which may be characterized as:

a. Investigations of the research infrastructures suitable for hosting at-scale experimentation in future internet architectures, services, and applications, and use of such infrastructures for experimental research.

b. We envision that our collaboration will encompass joint specification of system interfaces, development of interoperable systems, adoption of each other’s tools, experimental linkages of our testbeds, and experimentation that spans our infrastructures.

c. We further envision that students and young professors from participating nations will visit each other and collaborate deeply in these activities, in hopes of sparking friendships and life-long research collaborations between the communities.
Topics of interest for GEFI 2019 include, but are not limited to:
  •  Research platforms for advanced wireless research (5G and beyond)
  •  Experiment repeatability and reproducibility
  •  Testbed extensibility and interconnectivity (e.g., novel resources beyond standard radio, computation, networking, and storage)
  •  Federation of experimentation facilities (e.g., identity, control, and data plane federation; programmability of diverse and unique resource types)
  •  Integration of Software Defined Radio (SDR) and Software Defined Networking (SDN)
  •  Cloud Computing Systems Research
  •  Experimenter support tools
  •  APIs for experimenters
  •  Support for research in heterogeneous cloud applications (e.g., combinations of edge, IoT, enterprise, and data center resources)
  •  Software defined exchanges (SDX)
  •  Software defined infrastructure (SDI)
  •  Intelligent radio networks
  •  Open data repositories for experimentation
